Indiana University Precision Health Initiative leader Anantha Shekhar, MD, PhD, was interviewed by WNDU 16 journalist Maureen McFadden about how IU scientists and physicians are using precision medicine to successfully treat patients with cancer.

Dr. Shekhar told McFadden about two Hoosier patients — a 4-year-old girl and a 62-year-old man — who are now living cancer-free after receiving medical treatment based on genomic sequencing and analysis by IU researchers. He encouraged cancer patients to look into genetic testing at research hospitals to possibly receive new treatments based on personalized medicine.
